Rent a movie for a buck, and try some beer-battered jalapenos

This week's deals will satisfy your taste buds and make your wallet smile.

United Supermarkets has entered into the movie business.

Newly released DVDs can now be rented at United Supermarkets and Market Street for a $1 a day.

You can get your DVD through the user-friendly touch-screen kiosk.

You can choose how many days you want the movie, and pay with a credit or debit card.

For a $1 a day, who wants to go out?

Before watching your $1 movie, grab a bite at Tommy's Famous Burgers, 117 University Ave.

It's known as a burger stand but also offers sandwiches, Mexican food and hot dogs. Manager Terry Curl said he is most proud of Tommy's burgers, of course.

The most popular is the quarter-pound regular hamburger combo for $4.49, which is served with your choice of french fries or tater tots and a medium drink.

For those who are really hungry, try the super burger, which is a 10-ounce hamburger patty on a specially made bun for $4.19.

If you are looking for an afternoon snack or a side order, try the unique bottle caps, which are sliced, beer-battered jalapenos for $3.09.

On special now are the steak finger dinner and the hamburger steak dinner for $4.49 each, served with french fries or tater tots and a salad.

From 2 to 4 p.m. daily is happy hour, and all drinks are 99 cents.

If you are looking for a great thirst buster, try the slushes. They're available in five flavors: orange mango, black cherry, green apple, pina colada and lime. My bet is on the lime because it is oh so good.

If you are wanting freshly squeezed lemonade but don't have the time to squeeze the lemons, try Tommy's, which is made daily for $1.99.
