iMOZI Introduces Hybrid Physical & Digital Movie Kiosk!
Monday, 07 July 2008

LAS VEGAS, NV – iMOZI proudly unveiled at the annual Home Media Expo in Las Vegas, the first true hybrid DVD Kiosk capable of simultaneously handling physical and digital distribution of movies! Working in conjunction with quality technology partners, iMOZI continues to be a key innovator of self-service entertainment solutions that merge traditionally packaged media with digitally delivered content.

Aside from dispensing physical DVD and Bluray rentals via slim cases, the iMOZI Movie Kiosk will also enable operators to sell products in original shrink-wrapped packaging. Furthermore, thousands of additional titles can be made available digitally to consumers who can either choose to burn them on DVD, or download directly to portable devices and memory sticks.

“We want to make sure that we continue to offer as many channels as possible for the consumer to get their favorite media, in a convenient and economical way! Integrating the best of the physical DVD Kiosk with new digital transfer features is another step in that direction. Plus, by giving users the facility to interact with the kiosks in store, online or through their mobiles, our operators are much better positioned to satisfy the changing demand” – said Soheil Samimi, President of iMOZI.

Working with Polar Frog Digital, iMOZI is able to showcase a true end-to-end solution: by leveraging digital transfer technology developed by Polar Frog that supports the DVD Forum open standard for CSS encryption, the system ensures that all DVDs have the required copy-protection technology, with licensed rights that include DVD replication and download. At this time, more than 11,000 movies and TV episodes are part of the library, with each download ranging from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, based on quality.

Therefore, by deploying an iMOZI Movie Kiosk, retailers can save valuable floor space, reduce risk of product theft, as well as reduce the additional costs associated with the traditional distribution model. “ This combination not only allows to leverage an operator’s capital investment by maximizing the use of the same kiosk; but more importantly we are able to focus on capturing both the bigger demand from key new releases stocked physically, while still catering to the end of the Long Tail with the additional digital content!”
